WinterFest 2026 is just around the corner!
High School Students, we’re heading back to Gull Lake Ministries in Hickory Corners, Michigan from January 16-18, 2026.
This is one of our most valued Student Discipleship events for our high schoolers. WinterFest is a weekend-long retreat is designed to help students disengage from your regular rhythms of life to have meaningful time worshiping the Lord through song and through the Word in main sessions and small groups. There will be lots of time for large group activities and games throughout the weekend, as well.

A Journey through Nehemiah
Have you ever felt like your sin was too great for God to love you and forgive you? For many of us, we go through cycles of believing God’s love for us and being overjoyed by it, which leads to confessing our sins and feeling close to God. But then shortly after that, we fall back into our sin, which leads to thinking that God must be angry with us and want nothing to do with us, and we think we need to fix ourselves before coming back to Him.
This year, we are going to dive into some key passages from the book of Nehemiah to see that God’s covenant-keeping love is greater than the unfaithful rebellion of sinners, which is good news for you and for me. Rightly understanding the grace and mercy of God given to us in Christ Jesus frees us from the cycles of sin and shame that keep us from knowing and enjoying God.

Meaning Behind the Design
Hesed is often translated as “kindness,” “goodness,” or “faithfulness,” but when speaking of God, these descriptions are not quite adequate because hesed is what God is. Hesed is God’s promise-keeping character.
What hesed means is that when we are faithless, he remains faithful. When we are unloveable, he moves toward us and chooses to love us. When we rebel against him, he welcomes us with compassion to grant us forgiveness of our sins. To describe the word hesed leads us to describe God in the flesh, Christ Jesus, and his covenant-loyalty rooted in his steadfast love for us demonstrated most clearly on the cross, where he gave his life for us.
