Live Stream Services This WeekendMarch 13, 2020 | Coronavirus Update #3
Gospel City family,
As you may already know, the leadership of Gospel City Church has decided out of love and care for our whole body that we will not meet together physically this Sunday for church. This decision is in an effort to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. But just because we won’t be gathering together in a physical space does not mean that we’re canceling church. We are holding our Sunday “gatherings” online via Live Stream as Gospel citizens “scattered” throughout the community.
As Gospel City Church, we believe in the authority of God’s Word and His Word tells us that He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. So, rather than viewing these circumstances as an inconvenience, or merely just a problem to solve, we believe God is up to something greater, and we want to use this as an opportunity to pursue Jesus in a new and unique way.
We will be broadcasting our worship service live this Sunday and next Sunday at 10am and then again at 5pm. As Gospel City, we prioritize the weekly gathering of God’s people. So, we encourage you to not just be an observer as you tune in. Be a worshipper! Pursue Jesus passionately from wherever you are.
Come ready to pray as we believe in the sovereign plan that Jesus has in these days. Open your Bibles and engage with Pastor Stephen Love as he encourages us with God’s Word. A time and a place does not define the church, but rather the message and the culture we carry to any time and any place. We don’t want to just get through these days, but as the church we want to leverage every opportunity we have to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
This is a divine opportunity to invite friends, neighbors, and family to “church” with you this weekend. If you feel comfortable, maybe invite them to join you in your home. Or, simply share the Live Stream with them on social media and invite them to participate.
“We have the Good News—the Best News! We are not carriers of a virus, we are carriers of the Words of Life. Therefore, be a city on a hill and shine the Light of Jesus in this dark time.” (See this hope-filled letter from our pastors)
Join us at 10am or 5pm at facebook.com/mygospelcity and be a part of the online community. Or visit mygospelcity.org/live for viewing. You can also stream on your device via the Live Stream app on devices like Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV.
Worshipping With Families
You also know that high-impact worship services with our children are just as important to us as with the adults. We want to equip you for age-appropriate family worship this weekend, too. We are putting together a webpage (it will become available by Sunday) with a story video to watch together, along with some discussion questions and prayer ideas. And of course, invite them to worship aloud with you during the Live Stream.
Impact On Other Ministry-Related Activities
As of today, we are suspending all on-campus ministries for through March 22. We will evaluate this decision week to week as the situation around COVID-19 continues to unfold. In the meantime, we will be providing alternative ways for you to grow closer to God and learn more about Him. Pastors and Directors will be in touch with their specific ministries to inform what the next couple of weeks may look like. We’ll update more on this at the beginning of next week.
How To Stay Updated
For your convenience, we have created an Updates page at mygosplecity.org/updates. We plan to continue posting information there as it develops. The best way to stay informed is by subscribing to the Gospel City Gazette. Additionally, you can follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Christ Exalted Over All
Our God sits enthroned in the heavens and loves you deeply. Christ is exalted over all things. He is our refuge, our strength, and our very present help in trouble. These are all promises that we can trust and rely on. Our pastors have written a letter to encourage you with these truths, and empower you to be a city within a city, a city sent to a city, and a city longing for a better (heavenly) city.
You are loved,
—Gospel City Church staff, pastors, and elders
